MipMap Technologies takes to the skies with trusted vendor Slagboom en Peeters.
Delft, NL – November 2021
As municipalities and local authorities across the globe discover the power of digital twins, we are taking to the skies with our trusted vendor Slagboom en Peeters to explore the potential of this market. Operating since 1961 and boasting an impressive eight airplanes at their disposal, Slagboom en Peeters is a leading provider of detailed aerial photography and lidar content. Having their hangar less than 300 m from their offices and a permanent team of pilots means responding rapidly to image friendly weather.
In MipMap Technologies, we are looking forward to exploring the digital twin market pairing our fast and economical object-based urban modeling pipeline with Slagboom’s detailed imagery. Our initial foray will be the numerous municipalities of the Netherlands, but plan on expanding to the greater European market. Making the switch from mesh-based urban models to LOD2+ objects will open up new use cases and reveal new parameters for ROI (Return on Investment) for local authorities. Such cases may include volume – based property tax calculations, optimizing energy production capability of structures, dynamic environmental analysis (i.e. flood, wind, acoustics) and much more.
Revealing beneficial use cases of digital twins must also be an iterative process, allowing local authorities to get familiar with the new set of tools and work them into their existing workflows. This process will benefit greatly from access to high quality content, a cost-effective digital twin generation pipeline, as well as access to the power of Esri’s geospatial technologies1. This content can be used with the 3D Analyst toolbox in ArcGIS Pro, as a visual element in ArcGIS Storymaps, serve as a base in ArcGIS Maps SDK for game engines and more.
Esri is the global market leader in geographic information system (GIS) software, location intelligence and mapping and helps customers unlock the full potential of data to improve operational and business results.
1– More specifically, I3S export of data can be used in ArcGIS Pro for analysis or published as scene layer for web applications.
